Amazing! Beautiful! Mesmerizing!
Those are the words that came to mind when stepping off the tour bus to view Jenny Lake in the Grand Tetons. I was overwhelmed at the majesty and beauty of God's creation. It was mid-morning when we arrived there. The cerulean blue sky was reflected on the lake and there was a shimmering wash on top of the water. It looked like a net had been cast over the lake. Gentle breezes caused a slight movement, as the sun highlighted the tips of the waves turning them into a silvery blanket across the water.
This experience reminded me of the phrase often seen on room décor plaques. As Maya Angelou stated, "Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away." This location did just that -- it took my breath away!
I walked back to the bus thinking, "Lord, if you allow us to see beauty like this on earth, what must you have in store for us to see in heaven?" A very pensive thought, indeed.
Which leads me to a very important question to those of you reading this. Are you certain you are going to heaven? I believe the Bible. It is God's love letter telling us what we MUST do to get to heaven. Think of it as the ABC's of salvation.
- A = Accept the fact that you are a sinner and need a Savior -- ask for forgiveness
- B = Believe in your heart that Christ died for your sins and that He conquered death through his resurrection, so you can have peace now and join Him in heaven by following Him
- C = Confess that you want to give your heart to Him and begin your journey to learn about Him through the study of His word
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (NIV translation)
Make sure you don't miss out on this promise!
